Tile Primers, Cleaners and Sealers

Achieving a professional finish starts with surface preparation and ends with long-term maintenance. Using a high-quality tile primer is the first step in any installation, as it stabilises the substrate and reduces porosity to ensure a secure bond between the adhesive and the surface. Once installed, applying a tile sealer provides an invisible barrier that protects against moisture, oils, and staining an essential step for natural stone and porous ceramic.

Maintaining and Protecting Your Surfaces

Regular maintenance with a dedicated tile cleaner preserves the appearance of your installation without damaging the grout or the tile surface. Unlike standard household detergents, specialist cleaners effectively lift grime and limescale from bathrooms and hallways while remaining pH-neutral to protect any existing sealants. For high-traffic areas, choosing the right combination of protective sealers and non-abrasive cleaners ensures your floor and wall tiles remain in peak condition for years.

We also offer a large range of tile adhesives, grouts, trims, levelling systems and tile spacers, coloured silicone tile sealants and other tile accessories you may need for your project.

FAQs on Tile Primers, Cleaners & Sealers

Why is using a tile primer necessary before tiling?

A primer seals porous surfaces like plaster or wood, ensuring the adhesive doesn't lose moisture too fast, which leads to a stronger, more reliable bond.

How often should I apply a tile sealer to my floors?

While it depends on foot traffic, most natural stone and grout should be resealed every 1 to 2 years to maintain maximum protection against stains and water.

Can a standard tile cleaner be used on all materials?

No, certain materials like natural stone are sensitive to acidic cleaners; always use a specialist, pH-neutral cleaner to avoid etching or dulling the surface finish.
